10 WWE Stars Who Are In Desperate Need Of A Charecter Makeover

2. Carmella

Carmella’s in-ring work isn’t as polished as some of the other females on the roster like Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks, so it’s very important that she portrays a character fans can gravitate toward.

The Princess of Staten Island gimmick seemed to only work when she was with Enzo and Cass in NXT. As with Liv Morgan, gimmicks that focus on a small portion of a country don’t seem to resonate with today’s wrestling fans. The sense of nationalism and territorial based pride in previous generations of wrestling fans doesn’t seem to be as prevalent as it has been in the past. That's a result of the national expansion which only took place, oh, in the early 1980s.

Moreover, Carmella has no chemistry with James Ellsworth, who she was been recently paired with. Ellsworth's attempts at awkward humor often fall flat and despite gaining a bit of notoriety during the AJ Styles feud, there isn’t much of reason to keep him on television at this point.

She worked well with Enzo and Cass in NXT. If they are going to stick with her current gimmick, she might be better utilized as a valet for her old pals (assuming WWE doesn’t break them up).
