10 WWE Stars Who Have Suffered The Most Since WrestleMania 32

2. Dolph Ziggler

The fact that Dolph Ziggler was chosen to do the job for Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam indicates his standing with WWE management; deemed a big enough star to challenge for top titles when it suits, Ziggler is also ultimately cannon fodder when placed in that spot. SummerSlam was no different.

Even when Dolph has been in show-stealing matches like his Career Vs. Title Match for the Intercontinental gold opposite The Miz at No Mercy, he's still mired in the midcard with no genuine sign of upward trajectory.

A heel turn was long overdue, but it has been handled with apathy by the creative team since occurring in January. It has had the counterproductive effect of actually taking Ziggler further away from the main event scene; mini-feuds with Kalisto and Apollo Crews have done nothing for Dolph, because fans aren't given much of a reason to care about either babyface.

Part of 'Mania 32's multi-man Ladder Match, the bleach-blonde Ziggler is unfortunately now at the point where he will tread water whether playing heel or babyface. He's another talent who has suffered several false dawns since last year's supershow.
