7. 'Superfly' Jimmy Snuka

WWE.comThe originator of high flying in the WWE, you wouldn't realise it today but in the early Eighties, Snuka was the man. He was WWE's 1983 Wrestler Of The Year and the end of his bout with Don Muraco, in which he performed the now famous splash from the top of a steel cage, would go down in wrestling history. Still, during this momentous run he was never awarded with that main event. As with most of the entries on our list, there was probably a whole host of reasons and in this case, but there's one very huge reason that was probably the biggest contributing factor: Hulk Hogan. Snuka's in-ring style and intensity lent heavily to Snuka being a face and in the age of Hogan, being a face meant you were never going to be number one in that role. The closest he'd ever get was during his greatest feud with one of the greatest heels of all time, Roddy Piper. This feud was the catalyst to a string of great matches throughout the summer of 1984 but unfortunately for Snuka, it did not coincide with Wrestlemania season. A case of poor timing then. Snuka would leave the company shortly after this and although he returned in 1989, he never regained the same momentum he once had.
