6. Goldust (Dustin Rhodes)
WWE.comThe history of Goldust aka Dustin Runnels is quite lengthy, but to most fans he would have to be considered a WWE guy more than a WCW guy. Still, he spent a number of years in WCW and WWE always was willing to bring him back. He's a guy that I featured recently in the "
Things WWE Wants You To Forget" series and one of the points was that he's had six different stints in WWE. The journey started for him in WWE in 1990 as a 21 year old teaming with his dad Dusty against the heel team of Ted Dibiase and Virgil. They left the company in 1991 because Dusty was never really used right in WWE, so he went back to WCW where he had a lot of power. Dustin ended up working in WCW for about four years until being fired in 1995 for doing a blade job, which was banned in the company at the time. Maybe he did it on purpose because he wasn't happy there and knew WWE was interested. He started in WWE as Goldust in 1995 and became one of the most unique characters in wrestling history. It was incredible to see "The Natural" in such a completely different role. He really pulled it off well. Things were great for a few years, then others in the company started to become bigger stars than him and his drug issues didn't help either. He was fired in 1999 and went back to WCW. Dustin's return to WCW wasn't great because the Seven character flopped big time, but he did come back from it as just Dustin. He was still working in WCW when they folded in March of 2001. Vince McMahon believed in him so much as a talent that they brought him back to WWE in early 2002 and even though he did get fired a few more times he has been able to establish himself as a WWE guy once again.
