5. Davey Boy Smith
WWE.comThe "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith is a guy that had multiple stints in both WWE and WCW during the 1990s. He made a name for himself as part of the British Bulldogs tag team in the late 1980s in WWE, then he became a singles wrestler and reached incredible heights by headlining SummerSlam 1992 in England with his brother in law Bret Hart. He had a short stint with WCW in 1993 and then he was back in WWE by 1994 as part of the Bret Hart/Owen Hart feud with Smith siding with Hart as a babyface. He stayed in WWE through 1997 before leaving the company with Bret following the famous Survivor Series incident. It was a bad move for him to go to WCW. He was established in WWE as a popular figure that the fans grew to love over the years while in WCW he was just another guy. About a year after he got there, he suffered a severe back injury that was caused when he landed on a trap door that was in the ring for the Ultimate Warrior. He was fired while he was injured because WCW didn't have any more use for him. Smith returned to WWE in late 1999 and was around for parts of 2000, but his body wasn't the same and he had a tough time capturing the connection he had with the fans earlier in his career. Tragically, he died of a heart attack in 2002 at the age of 39. Hopefully he's able to join the WWE Hall of Fame one day.
