Speaking of short John Cena matches that ended in DQ and were never seen again, four years before his encounter with Christian, Cena had a similar happening against Santino Marella, albeit one that lasted just a single minute as opposed to three. Marella was a surprise opponent for Cena, but before this match could really get going, Randy Orton interfered and handcuffed Cena to the ropes. Cena then had to watch as Randy Orton beat the tar out John Cena Sr.

Want a little bit of a history lesson? Well, we may complain about the state of Raw in 2016, but let's just take a look at this same episode from 2007. Earlier in the show, Mr. McMahon devoted an entire segment to him attempting to disown his illegitimate child and then-Cruiserweight Champion, Hornswoggle. 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan was around and winning matches, defeating Daivari in a flag match.

Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch were the tag team champions, but being the best team in the damn world still wasn't enough as the duo came up short in a handicap match against Triple H. It wasn't even a fight, and Triple H even laid out babyface tag challengers London & Kendrick after the match. 2007 Triple H was the dirt worst.

Anyway, we'd never see John Cena vs. Santino Marella again, although that isn't really met with many tears.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
