10 WWE Superstars Who Are Nothing Like Their Gimmicks In Real Life

2. Goldust

The gimmick: Although he’d later tone things down, Goldust debuted as the sexually suggestive, fittingly-named Bizarre One. Vince McMahon described the character as androgynous—a word that very few people, Dustin Runnels and myself included, knew the meaning of without first consulting a dictionary.

Goldust would make all these movie references owing to the fact that he’s essentially a life-size Oscars statuette, whilst he also had a habit of making unusual noises and groping his opponents in the ring on account of that whole "bizarre" spiel.

In real life: Safe to say, Dustin Runnels isn’t a life-size Oscar statue. He’s just a really good, and dedicated, face painter. Runnels in real life is the son of Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes and the half-brother of former tag team partner Cody, and he comes from Austin, TX, rather than the deepest, darkest corner of your mind.

Perhaps the most fitting divergence between Runnels and Goldust is the fact that Runnels (from a fitness standpoint) has blossomed with age, while the Goldust character arguably peaked in the '90s.

Elliott Binks hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
