When It Should Have Happened: Believe it or not, Zack Ryder has been a part of the WWE system for over a decade, but he was never considered truly worthy of wrestling on the grand stage of WrestleMania until 2012 when he got hot in the second half of 2011. He was riding a wave of momentum heading into the new year, and despite losing the United States Championship within a few weeks, he was primed for a significant match at WrestleMania 28, likely against arch-rival Kane.

However, Ryder was never able to give Kane his comeuppance. In fact, the feud was forgotten about completely and Kane turned his attention to Randy Orton instead. The self-proclaimed Long Island Iced Z was instead involved in a 10-man tag team match where he was pinned by The Miz.

Chances of It Happening In the Future: While he has mostly served as an enhancement talent in the years since then, it appears WWE might be on the verge of giving him his just due. He shockingly won the Intercontinental Championship in a heart-warming moment at WrestleMania 32. He dropped the belt to Miz the next night on Raw, but remains relevant as he chases the championship.

If officials can keep him relevant and build him up enough over the next year, and that's a big if, his dream of wrestling a one-on-one match at 'Mania could become a reality in spring 2017.
