10 WWE Wrestlers Who Got Buried Because Of Their Tag Partner

8. The Forgotten Sons

Unfortunately The Forgotten Sons run on the main roster in WWE will likely be remembered for a tweet rather than anything they did on SmackDown.

Steve Cutler, Wesley Blake and Jaxson Ryker formed trio down in NXT back in 2018. They had some modest success there, but it was when they were promoted to SmackDown in April 2020 that it looked like they were in line for a considerable push. They started incorporating American patriotism into their personas, playing off their real life marine backgrounds, and even beat The New Day in a non-title match.

Their fate changed when Ryker sent out a tweet wholeheartedly endorsing (then) President Donald Trump as mass protests were sweeping the nation. Superstars in the company aren't often political, with WWE strongly adamant they want to separate political views and alignments from their product. As soon as Ryker tweeted, a large portion of the roster and elsewhere openly chastised him online, including Mustafa Ali, Sami Zayn and Batista. Kevin Owens even went as far as calling his behaviour ‘absolutely f*cking pathetic’.

The Forgotten Sons were immediately taken off TV for months from the backlash the tweet provoked. Ryker would later be removed from the group altogether and paired with Elias on Raw, while Blake and Cutler were paired with King Corbin on SmackDown.

Until Cutler screwed up too. He was released for disciplinary reasons a few months after returning for reportedly attending a New Year’s Eve party during the pandemic, which compromised the safe working environment WWE were trying to maintain. With Wesley Blake's partners gone, he too was released from his contract in the 2021 April cuts.
