Tears of joy were shed when Becky Lynch announced that she was pregnant and handed the Raw Women's Title to Money In The Bank winner Asuka on the flagship in 2020. This was reportedly an organic moment, because the new champ had no idea what Becky was going to say. She might've known she was getting the title, but didn't know that her peer was with child.

'Big Time Becks' didn't appear on WWE TV regularly again until mid-2021 when she showed up at SummerSlam to hammer Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women's belt. Rather shockingly, she'd wanted to produce some vignettes from the maternity ward whilst actually preggers.

Lynch thought it'd be cool if someone on the roster ambushed her whilst she was laid up and vulnerable in hospital, but WWE thought that'd be a step too far for their still-PG product. Stephanie McMahon has admitted in interviews since that she personally loved the idea, but someone behind the scenes put a red pen through the entire draft and thought it'd be in poor taste.

Think about that: WWE thought something would be in poor taste. You know, the same company who once had Paige mock Reid Flair's death on live television, and who'd previously cornered a distraught Melanie Pillman for an interview hours after her husband Brian had been found dead in a hotel room.

When placed next to those incidents, Becky mapping out a mystery attacker storyline doesn't seem all that over the top. Even so, it was shut down completely.
