101 Shocking Wrestling Plans You Won't Believe Almost Happened
36. Justin Bieber Teams With John Cena & Big Show
John Cena would've received one of the biggest pops of the era had he blasted an arrogant Justin Bieber with his Attitude Adjustment after teaming with the pop star and their partner Big Show. Believe it or not, that combo was in the works for SummerSlam 2014, and Bieber was excited about appearing on the pay-per-view as an active wrestler.
Bieber had just turned 20 earlier in the year, so he was presumably up for anything. Keen to get him involved but knowing they'd need to keep him safe, WWE also knew Cena and Show would be ideal for the gig. Across the ring, they planned to have Wyatt Family members Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan act as heel fodder.
Now that's a match most would only expect to see in WWE video games.
Time for an even bigger bombshell. There were talks about this unlikely 6-man tag-team bout headlining SummerSlam. What are your favourite main events on the August special? Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog from 1992? Seth Rollins vs. Finn Bálor from 2016? The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar from 2002? How about Bieber in 2014?! That could've been one of the worst.
Lil' Justin came eerily close to going on last, but the deal fell apart during negotiations. Later, Big Show claimed that the finances were all skewed and neither side could come to terms on a fee or even how Bieber would relate to the core WWE audience. Spoiler alert: He wouldn't have, but the mere thought of Justin bloody Bieber wrestling alongside John Cena would've brought in some mainstream eyeballs.
