101 Shocking Wrestling Plans You Won't Believe Almost Happened

34. Lance Storm Is Revealed As Eric Bischoff’s Son

Lance Storm successfully dodged becoming an alien who had crashed his spaceship onto Nitro and hastily formed a faction called Team Canada. The question must be asked: Did that even make sense in Vince Russo or Disco Inferno's minds, or were they simply at it and seeing what they could get away with in WCW?!

Canadian workhorse Storm knew he was entering a wild west scenario when he signed a contract and leapt over from ECW in 2000, but opportunity knocked. During chats about what he'd be doing on TV, Lance learned from Russo that one of the plans on the table for him was...becoming Eric Bischoff's storyline son.

It would've been one of those "illegitimate" storylines that wrestling has been on/off intrigued by for a long time now, but Lance Bischoff would've pre-dated Mr. Kennedy/Hornswoggle as Vince McMahon's boy and Jason Jordan as Kurt Angle's son by a generation. Eek! It's easy to forget how much that Jordan and Angle booking tanked.

Being honest, Storm coming into WCW as Bischoff's kayfabe offspring wouldn't have been the worst landing spot for him. If nothing else, it would've given him instant notoriety and heat with those in the audience who hadn't checked out any ECW, and then Lance's technical skills could've taken over.

He'd have been guaranteed plenty of television time to get the gimmick over too. In hindsight, this could've been better than Team Canada and made Storm the centrepiece of the New Blood group. It isn't clear why WCW scrapped the Bischoff plot before Lance's debut.
