3. "The Austin Era Has Begun"

"The Austin era has begun!" exclaimed Jim Ross as Steve Austin stood on the middle rope, his newly won WWE Championship raised high in the air. It was a moment in time in which not only a new champion was crowned but, also, a new era born.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin's rise to the top of the industry had been a year in the making and his title match with Shawn Michaels at the fourteenth WrestleMania was the coronation of him as the top star in Vince McMahon's promotion. The involvement of pro boxer and media sensation Mike Tyson brought more eyes to the event than it otherwise would have generated, making the moment even more special for Austin, personally, and important for WWE as a whole.

The image of Austin making his way up the aisle, the title in one hand, his arm raised by Tyson, was seen all over the world thanks to various media outlets. It garnered WWE a wealth of attention and generated tremendous buzz for new champion Austin. In short, it was the perfect way to conclude an event and, at the same time, ignite a movement that would fuel WWE past WCW in the Monday Night Wars.
