11 Times WWE Titles Changed Hands At Non-Televised Live Events

We're starting off with what is probably one of, if not the, most famous house show title changes ever.

Just three days after Backlund had defeated Bret from the strap at the 1994 Survivor Series, Kevin 'Diesel' Nash pinned the WWF Champion in eight seconds following a solitary Jacknife Powerbomb to win his first major singles title.

It was obvious to all watching WWF programming at the time that WWE were grooming Diesel to be 'the guy', but it was surprising to see him win the big one at a non-televised live event, even if that event was at the ultra-important MSG.

Vince never saw Backlund as anything other than a transitional champion since he definitely didn't fit in with the company's 'New Generation' mantra but he put the belt on him so that The Hitman wouldn't have to do the job to Big Daddy Cool.

Vince was worried that his pet project would be booed out of the building if he had downed the Canadian hero, so he gave it to Bob to do the honours, thus ensuring a favourable response.

Diesel would have a mammoth 358 day run with the belt, but it's important to remember that he didn't win it in some big PPV main event or on a heavily-hyped episode of Raw, but in a midcard match on a house show.
