11 WWE Title Changes That MUST Happen In 2023
6. Intercontinental Championship - Tyler Bate
NXT UK will be rightly mourned for the great in-ring work it produced, but it failed to make a great many stars, while gouging the BritWres scene. One undeniable success story, though, is Tyler Bate. He’s young, freakishly strong, multifaceted, and as good a worker as the company at large has to offer.
The phoenix-like rise of NXT Europe notwithstanding, Bate should be brought over to the main roster as soon as possible. And, when the time is right, he should renew hostilities with GUNTHER and avenge his loss in Cardiff.
For those unfamiliar, Bate’s bout with the Imperium leader, then working under the vastly superior WALTER monicker, is one of the best NXT offerings full stop. For 40 minutes the two told an impeccable David and Goliath story, with the Welsh crowd in the palm of their hands throughout. They’re fiercely partizan, subjecting the big Austrian to the kind of salty abuse usually reserved for the terraces.
Odds are GUNTHER drops the belt to Braun Strowman, which is certainly an option, albeit a dull one. Bate overcoming nigh-insurmountable odds to announce himself on the world stage, though: now that’s a story.
