Without any setup, the second episode of Nothing To Report titled "Captain Ed" opens with Chris Jericho's character Chance having an argument over his police scanner. Whoever was on the other end was not buying into Chance's argument of how good the Sammy Hagar era of Van Halen was.
Chance passionately defends the hits from that period of the legendary band's history. Songs like 'Right Now' were classics according to Chance but he was told that the song was nothing more than a Pepsi Jingle.
As the defense of Van Hagar continued and grew more passionate, Chance accidentally changes one of the song titles to 'Don't Wait Till Tomorrow With Theresa.' Theresa is Chance's ex-wife. She left him for a weatherman.
During a recent Talk Is Jericho episode with Nothing To Report show creators Team Tiger Awesome, it was revealed how invested Jericho became into that joke. After reading the initial script he would go home and write his thoughts on how to make the joke better. He would apparently return with "five pages of...a really long list of Van Hagars."
