12 Interesting Historical WWE Royal Rumble Facts

11. John Cena Is The Most Economical Rumble Ironman

To succeed in most Royal Rumble matches, you need to have the ability to survive for quite a while in the match itself. Five wrestlers have topped the one-hour mark for in-ring time in the Rumble, including the record holder Rey Mysterio who clocked in at 62 minutes and 12 seconds. For the 2010 Royal Rumble, the ironman for the match was John Cena; who has won this match twice previously (2008 & 2013), but he was the most economical ironman time in the history of the Rumble match at only 22 minutes and 11 seconds. The 2010 Rumble match itself was very short clocking in at 49 minutes and 24 seconds (the shortest Royal Rumble since 1995). The match was won by a returning Edge who's entry was a huge surprise due to returning from injury sooner than expected at six months. Only 9 wrestlers were even in the Rumble match for more than 10 minutes. No other matches really ran too long, so it's unknown as to why this Rumble was so quick. Cena has the economical record by far as you have to go back to the first Royal Rumble in 1988 for the next best, over 3 minutes longer (Bret Hart - 25:42).
