12 Stupidest Things Vince McMahon Ever Did

6. Taking Too Long To Implement A "Wellness Policy"

The list of pro wrestlers that have died at an early age because of steroids and other drugs, either directly or indirectly, is long, tragic, and sees new names added every year. Unfortunately for Vince McMahon, he gets a lot of the blame for that, even when it comes to wrestlers who have never worked for him, as he is the main one who promoted a culture of "be as big as you can, in any way you can make it happen, or you won't get pushed" for so many years. The WWF had drug testing going as far back as the late-1980's, with steroid testing happening in 1991, but if you ask many of the company's employees from the time, the testing was a joke, and all you'd have to do was look at the roster to see that was the truth. In 2006, the current Wellness Policy was put into place, and while many would still view it as a bit of a sham, it was a major turn. The death of Eddie Guerrero basically put the Wellness Policy into effect, and the death of Chris Benoit helped to tweak it a bit, but you have to wonder how many of those early wrestler deaths could have been prevented or delayed a bit if Vince had taken drug testing more seriously a long time ago. There's no way of telling if it could have saved anything. Maybe all of those wrestlers would have died early, anyway, but it was certainly worth the shot for Vince to help save the lives of these people, and in turn, help his promotion out a bit.
