3. The Real Story From Karen Jarrett

VICE brought Karen in to tell her side of the story on a suspected “love affair” with Jeff Jarrett behind Kurt’s back. To her credit, Karen left no stone unturned. She noted that she'd separated from Kurt in 2006 right about the time Angle jumped from WWE to TNA, but Karen had privately agreed to put on a front hoping that kayfabe happy families would turn into reality.

She admits she “became angry and resentful” before leaving in 2008.

Karen was then the one who called Jeff about “a friendship”, because she'd appreciated him reading some scripture to her over the phone shortly after she'd departed TNA. Then, things blossomed from there. Look, nobody reading this is daft, but it is interesting to hear things straight from Karen’s mouth. She was keen to shoot an arrow straight through rumours that she went behind Kurt’s back, or that Jarrett did the same.

Summing things up, Karen added: “This was never an affair, it was 2 people falling in love and bettering their lives”. However, Karen “still feels responsible” for Dixie having Jarrett removed from TNA due to their relationship. That crushed one of his dreams (turning the company into a massive success story), and she thinks it was totally unnecessary.

So, there you have it. Kurt and Karen had actually split up when they were cast as a happy couple on TNA programming. In a warped way, they were banking on pro wrestling storylines and drama rekindling their marriage. That's flawed, but they're only human.
