12 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Royal Rumble
7. Chris Jericho's 2012 Rumble Win Was Changed To Sheamus
Chris Jericho's WWE return in 2012 was built up like a big deal. It was well known among internet fans that he was going to have a feud with the WWE Champion CM Punk culminating in a match at WrestleMania 28. We also knew that The Rock vs. John Cena was taking place at that show, so whoever faced Punk wasn't going to main event anyway. Going into the match, Sheamus was one of the guys that was thought to have a shot to win although you never really know. It was a bit of a weak Rumble anyway. Other than those two guys, maybe Randy Orton had a shot to win it too. That was really it. Sheamus was being built up as a strong babyface and there was a heel World Champion on Smackdown in Daniel Bryan, so a win for him did make sense. They made it to the final two with a sequence that lasted about five minutes. It was a nice showdown between two great wrestlers, but it was Sheamus that left the match as the winner. What WWE doesn't want you to know is that they planned for Jericho to win the match and changed it just because it got leaked on the internet. Jericho's won pretty much everything in his career except a Royal Rumble. It's a shame that WWE changed plans just because they felt like too many people knew what was going to happen.
