12 Ups And 16 Downs For WWE In 2021

DOWNS…

16. Hurt Business Closed, Reopens As Lesser Entity

The Hurt Business

We definitely would be looking through rose-colored glasses if we have only fond memories of the Hurt Business. But the quartet that opened 2021 was actually a well-functioning stable that had the potential to run roughshod over Raw for much of the year.

Instead, the unit was all-but disbanded, with Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin inexplicably drummed out of the group before WrestleMania and sent to Jobberville. The potential of a world champ backed by tag champs (or even tag title contenders) was dismissed likely due to Vince McMahon’s whims, logic be damned.

After Benjamin and Alexander tagged, feuded with each other and then disappeared, they resurfaced as Bobby Lashley’s backup in his feud with Goldberg – but they were little more than the nWo B-Team, getting trounced by every act on the roster, thus cheapening the Hurt Business name and making the duo look like even bigger goobers.

Seeing where they started the year and where they finished, the only good thing you could say is that at least they have their health – and their jobs.
