By the time No Mercy 2008 came around, the World Titles had switched brands. The World Heavyweight Championship was now back on RAW in Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels' fantastic storyline, while the WWE Championship was once again over on SmackDown, being chased by Jeff Hardy.

'The Charismatic Enigma' challenged Triple H for the WWE Title in what was just another step in the build to his eventual championship victory at December's Armageddon.

The two would deliver a great match in the process, which ended with Jeff hitting a Swanton Bomb on Triple H, who just managed to roll Hardy up to escape with the gold.

The World Heavyweight Championship was defended in the night's main-event, in a spectacular Ladder Match - perhaps the best ever.

The competitors wrestled a very smart - and also very physical - Ladder Match that saw Jericho lose some teeth. A few minutes later, Jericho and Michaels fought in a tug-of-war over the championship belt, before Y2J delivered a smart headbutt to the challenger, knocking him out and allowing Jericho to win.

Over the next number of months, both belts changed hands numerous times, which wasn't the best build to WrestleMania XXV. However, that didn't prevent another PPV from having two fantastic title matches before the show.
