13 Match Star Ratings For AEW Double Or Nothing 2022

6. Kazarian, Sammy Guevara & Tay Conti Vs. Men Of The Year & Paige Van Zant

Ethan Page Sammy Guevara

A wildly unnecessary and dumb bout not without the odd cool moment, it was probably the worst trios match in AEW history.

A good AEW trios match deranges the senses; this was impossible to get lost in because it was too difficult to work out who was and wasn't a d*ckhead. It was revealed that this trios match had a 1:5 babyface to d*ckhead ratio, which was odd and off-putting, particularly since it was thought in the build that Sammy Guevara had turned for the third time this year. Between the misogyny, title devaluation and swerve quota, the only thing that differentiated this from a Vince Russo storyline is that there wasn't a pole stuck on top of a ring post.

Paige VanZant was over, but only did a decent job if this was to be taken as a celebrity match. It wasn't. It was a debut.

Kazarian's "f*ck this" babyface comeback was a hot, elusive use of crowd psychology, and major credit to Tay Conti - she ate sh*t on that errant Guevara thrust kick, but even that couldn't save this match. The crowd was asked to pop on a "She deserves this because she has an active sex life!" basis, and f*ck that.

Star Rating: ★★½
