13 Things We Learned From Finn Balor On Talk Is Jericho

7. Making The Move To WWE

When asked what finally prompted him to make the jump from New Japan to WWE, Finn responds that he had attempted to sign a long-term deal with NJPW but they were only able to give out two-year contracts , and being that he was already 33, he felt that if he signed for another two years his window to give WWE a shot would be closed. He calls it a reluctant and uncertain decision on his part, but he didn't want to look back and regret not giving it a shot. He makes it a point to talk about how much he loved working in Japan, mentioning that he was still able to go back home to Ireland every two weeks and was able to work indies in the UK. He also says that people would constantly tell him he wouldn't enjoy being in WWE because they would stifle him, but that he's having the time of his life. Jericho asks if the WWE was his dream, and he replies that he really just wanted to be a wrestler, and with each goal accomplished he would add a new one. He says with the way things were going in New Japan, he was really happy and probably would have worked there for the rest of his life, and said had WWE not reached out to him he probably wouldn't have pursued it because he was having fun and was creatively fulfilled.
