15 Former NFL Players In Vince McMahon's XFL
8. Matt Jones
In the 2015 NFL draft, running back Matt Jones was taken in round three by the Washington Redskins, a full 54 picks ahead of Jay Ajayi, the English born running back who was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2016, and helped the Eagles win the Superbowl in 2017.
While the Redskins may regret their choice in running backs, Jones' career didn't start badly, but was soon derailed in his second season by injury. After two years the running back was waived by the Redskins, before suiting up for the Indianapolis Colts five times in the 2017 season.
Jones has not played a professional game of American Football since his release from the Colts, and was picked by the St. Louis BattleHawks in the seventh round of the XFL draft. Taken just five picks after fellow running back Donnel Pumphrey, Jones is sure to want to prove the DC Defenders made a mistake in passing on him.
