15 Things You Didn't Know About WrestleMania (1995 - 2004)
7. WrestleMania 2000 - Chris Jericho's Original Plans
As previously mentioned, the main event of WrestleMania 2000 (aka WrestleMania XVI) featured a Fatal 4-Way contest between The Rock, Triple H, Big Show and Mick Foley. Originally, the match was supposed to feature Chris Jericho instead of Foley, as confirmed in Jericho's second autobiography (Undisputed). Unfortunately for Jericho, his first several months in the World Wrestling Federation were not the most successful of his career as he struggled mightily after jumping from WCW in August of '99. The locker room was not a comfortable place for Jericho as the Monday Night War was putting incredible amounts of pressure on all talents, Jericho's in-ring work needed to be tweaked, and suffering from a lack of confidence all contributed to the reason why he was deemed "not ready" to main event WrestleMania by the time the show came around in April of 2000. Instead, Foley was inserted into Jericho's spot and it would be another two years until Y2J main-evented the biggest show of the year.
