5. The First Match With Eddie In WCW Was His Favourite

Rey Mysterio had many, many, matches with Eddie Guerrero over the years. In many ways the two were the most perfectly compatible opponents in the WCW promotion at that time, and that was in evidence during their first ever match in the company, on September 8th 1997. Mysterio cites this as his favourite match between himself and Eddie, even beating the popular choice of Rey vs Eddie at Halloween Havoc a month later. Rey stated that even though the two men had wrestled three or four times in AAA, there was just something special about that first bout. He credit's Eddie for being "on point throughout" and the two men being able to improvise off each other so fluidly. He cited the famous 'Moonsault from the top ropes into a DDT' spot as being an example of this, a total accident which just happened to look like a beautiful orchestrated move. The two would repeat the move several times throughout their career, but it never worked as well as the first, accidental time.
