17 WWE Problems Only Kane Would Understand

12. Living In The Undertaker's Shadow

The problem with coming in as The Undertaker's 'brother' is that it puts you in an elevated position, but it also ensures you're constantly viewed as Taker's understudy. There was little scope for Kane to really breakout as a main eventer in his own right, he was only really in his spot to give The Undertaker a foil to work with. For all intents and purposes, he was just a glorified jobber for Taker to put down. Kane had to make do living in Taker's shadow even beyond their feud. The spot for the top big man was always going to be Mark Calaway's. Beyond that, the WWF put Taker and Kane back together as the brothers of destruction. Once again, this reinforced the fact that the big red machine was the junior wrestler. The tag team was really just a way of giving The Undertaker something meaty in the 2001 midcard.
