17 WWE Superstars Who Mysteriously Lost A Name
7. (Antonio) Cesaro
WWE's fastest-rising star is currently known only by his last name. Oddly enough, he competed as "Antonio Cesaro" for like two years before getting decisively de-monikered in 2014. In this case, we actually do know why things went south for ol' Tony: Vince McMahon thinks "Antonio" is a girl's name.
Perhaps Vinny Mac is not aware of his name gendering works in Romance languages, or maybe his standards for masculinity are ridiculously stringent. I mean, Cesaro is a 6'5" tall circus strongman with a beard. He has thicker hair on his chest than he does on his head. He speaks 76 languages and occasionally shows up on a zip line in a three piece suit to intimidate Tough Enough hopefuls. He's basically as close to being James Bond you can be without blowing up a submarine. Also, do you think he had this problem with Inoki? Like, there's this language barrier where Inoki wanted a title match and Vince was confused when he didn't show up to wrestle Moolah?
