Catching just about everybody by surprise, Chris Jericho unexpectedly showed up on November's NJPW Power Struggle to issue a challenge to company' megastar and fellow Canadian Kenny Omega. 'The Cleaner' gave him the thumbs up, and stunningly, a dream match was set for Wrestle Kingdom.

The two had embarked on weeks of Twitter 'feuding', which at best looked like it'd be settled at sea as part of the Cruise of Jericho (a cruise-erweight classic, if you will). Absolutely no-one saw a January 2018 showdown in the Tokyo Dome coming.

The surprising announcement raised many questions, chiefly about Y2J's status with WWE. After nearly two decades under Vince's employ, was this the end?

It turned out that he remained under contract despite signing off on a deal with their cross-Pacific rivals, sparking rumours of a return match come WrestleMania. Check next year's list to see if that happened.

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
