If only this clash had seen the right woman go over, this would be even higher. With smarter booking this could have been Rhea Ripley’s crowning moment, a victory over one of the division’s best. Here’s hoping this year they make things right.

Even with the questionable decision to put Ripley’s NXT Women’s Championship on The Queen, though, this was the in-ring highlight of WrestleMania 36. Seldom do we see Flair pitted against a competitor who can match her for power, but Rhea was the ideal opponent in that respect.

The match centred around Ripley’s strength against Flair’s veteran mentality. Rhea tossed Charlotte around the ring with frightening ease, while the Royal Rumble winner targeted the champion’s knee throughout. Both women got in some fierce offence, with the upper hand switching at pace.

The match was given a good chunk of time but never once lagged, and built to the shock finish of Charlotte slapping on the Figure Eight for the tap out victory. Not the right call, especially given the booking subsequent to this, but a superb match all the same.
