20 Wrestlers You Totally Forgot Held WWE Championships

18. Moondog King (Tag Team Champion)

The Moondogs were a multi-federation wrestling stable who made their way to WWE in 1981, and were originally comprised of Moondog Rex and Moondog King. They were a couple of wildmen whose gimmick saw them sport torn denim jeans and chewing giant animal bones on the way to the ring, but as ridiculous as they sound, they were a relatively successful unit.

Rex and King defeated Rick Martel and Tony Garea to become WWE Tag Team Champions in March ‘81, but while the team would technically hold the belts for four months, King was a champion for just 45 days.

How did this happen? King, a Canadian wrestler, was refused entry back into the United States after border control unearthed a handful of previously unknown criminal offences. King was replaced by Moondog Spot after the likes of Stan Hansen, Hulk Hogan, and Sgt. Slaughter had spent several weeks moonlighting with Rex, and King was never heard from again.
