20 WWE Ruthless Aggression Era Tag Teams You've Already Forgotten
14. Road Warrior Animal & Road Warrior Heidenreich
In 2005, WWE put out a career retrospective DVD set for the Road Warriors, and decided they wanted the LOD to have a nostalgia run to help promote it. There was a slight hiccup insofar as Hawk had died two years earlier, but WWE just substituted nearby tall person Heidenreich and called it good. Man, good thing interpersonal chemistry isn't important at all for tag team viability, right?
This wasn't the first time the Legion of Doom was asked to function without one of its founding members, but it was the lamest. I guess no one in WWE had Kensuke Sasaki's number, though, so Heidenrech and his tiny little boxing gloves got the nod. I'm not sure if their run resulted in the desired spike in DVD sales, but it did lead to one of pro wrestling's very darkest moments: The Road Warrior Animal leather pants singles run.
