22. Jericho Gets Lost Backstage
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xb7ul3_wcw-thunder-chris-jericho-gets-lost_shortfilmsIn August 1998, Jericho attempted to break free of his cruiserweight label by defeating Stevie Ray (substituting for champion Booker T) to become the WCW Television champion, his first non-lightweight title with the company.
As a result of his win, Jericho began to believe that he was on the same level as new superstar Bill Goldberg, who had recently won the WCW world title. Jericho began calling out Goldberg at every opportunity but Bill ignored his grandstand challenges.
Jericho even began ripping of Goldberg's entrance, or at least he tried to. Goldberg, since was so dangerous and feared, had to be kept in his own locker room and would only emerge when retrieved by a security escort. Jericho saw this as an insult and decided to incorporate it into his entrance.
Jericho would emerge from his private room (looked a lot like a broom closet) and then would proceed towards the ring. However, Jericho didn't have a very good sense of direction and, taking a play out of Spinal Tap's playbook, got lost backstage and threw a hissy fit.
When he finally did emerge from the curtain, his pyro didn't go off as planned, forcing Jericho to kick the fireworks and injure himself futher.
The whole thing was hilarious and would have been paid off tremendously if Goldberg came out once and squashed him like a bug but, unfortunately, WCW creative wouldn't cooperate.
