25 Best Moments Of WWE Monday Night RAW (Year-By-Year)

17. 2001: Chris Benoit & Chris Jericho Vs. Steve Austin & Triple H

2001 was a difficult time for the WWF. Oh sure, they had their biggest, most successful, and most acclaimed PPV ever with WrestleMania X-Seven, but the fallout of Austin's heel turn resulted in a mass audience exodus. In addition, with Rock leaving for a time to shoot The Scorpion King, there was now a serious gap in the main event picture. Thankfully, they had guys like Triple H to hold down the fort... unfortunately, Hunter had to go and tear his quadricep, the coward. Well, at the very least, before he bowed out the rest of the year, he was able to deliver one last classic match alongside Austin, Benoit, and Chris Jericho.

This match, of course, is most well-known for Hunter's absolute trooper of a performance, in which despite his horrific injury, he not only finished the match, but sold the Walls of Jericho on the announce table. But the match should also be commended for its excitement, hot crowd, and great in-ring action.

2001 may have been a messy year creatively for RAW, but it still had some of the best performers in wrestling.
