22. Ronda Rousey Wins The Royal Rumble

Despite revisionist history to the contrary, Ronda Rousey enjoyed a successful first year in WWE. She stole the show in her debut at WrestleMania 34 as she tagged with Kurt Angle to defeat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, won the Raw Women's Championship at SummerSlam 2018, and defended her title every month until losing it to Becky Lynch in the triple threat main event of WrestleMania 35.

Ronda then disappeared without a trace. No promo to explain the screwy finish to her losing the title, and no attempt at seeking revenge on Becky Lynch, with whom she'd had a bitter feud leading up to that 'Mania bout. She just disappeared without a trace, as she had done after suffering her first-ever UFC loss to Holly Holm.

This understandably left a bitter taste with fans, who felt as if they'd just been dropped unceremoniously by an outsider that they'd been groomed to accept in her rookie year. As such, Ronda Rousey walking back into WWE and winning the 2022 women's Royal Rumble with just over 10 minutes in the ring felt like an insult to fans and the women who work Raw and SmackDown all year round. The idea that Rousey was a pampered prima donna never quite went away after this chain of events.
