3 Ups And 12 Downs From WWE Raw (Sept 21)
9. Hurt Business Now Faces?
During the Attitude Era, there was a lot of “shades of gray” regarding wrestlers. Babyfaces could do heelish things, and villains would get cheered for some of their actions.
One of the more notable acts was the APA, with Bradshaw & Farooq beating people up for money. The duo were mercenaries-for-hire, beating people up for money. They essentially were heels, but if the money was right, they would do stuff that got them cheered.
Contrast this with the Hurt Business, which has been establishing itself as a heel faction, recruiting a fourth member and continuing to beat up babyfaces Apollo Crews and Ricochet. Suddenly last week, they decided to strike back against RETRIBUTION, albeit with a pledge to send WWE brass the bill.
And now they’re at the forefront of attacking RETRIBUTION and standing up for WWE, telling RETRIBUTION that they have no heart… while at the same time continuing to beat up Crews and Ricochet.
You know, if they had a simple backstage scene with Adam Pearce telling MVP that they’ll pay him whatever he wants to take out RETRIBUTION, that might make sense. Oh wait, but WWE signed them to contracts! Nevermind.
