3 Ups And 12 Downs From WWE Raw (Sept 21)
7. Useless Waste Of Royce
When the IIconics were forced to disband as a team a few weeks ago, WWE apologists insisted that it meant that the company was high on Peyton Royce and this would launch her singles career. OK, fair enough.
The following week, she beat her old tag partner Billie Kay in an underwhelming match that wasn’t announced ahead of time. Last week, she didn’t have a match. And Monday, she out of the blue challenged Asuka to a non-title match, which she was dominated in until Zelina Vega attacked the champ for a DQ.
If they were going to try to build Peyton up as a singles star, this would have been easy. Take her off TV for a week. Have her come back with her image tweaked and let her beat enhancement talent, showcasing her great Déjà Vu finisher. Let her pick up wins over Lana and Liv Morgan en route to a feud with Mickie James or Natalya to show she can hang.
Instead, let’s rush her out there to have a forced and uneventful match against her old partner, then get battered by the Raw Women’s Champion. Way to make a star guys.
