This was the only thing last night that felt like it truly belonged on a go-home edition of NXT. Enzo and Big Cass, returning to in-ring action after being (kayfabe) put on the shelf by no-good champs, Dawson and Wilder, put on a blistering show. Forgoing their customary shuck-and-jive crowd-pleasing singalong opening mic work, the two immediately set about punishing their unfortunate opponents, Hollis and Skyler. Cass screamed into Skyler's face before bludgeoning him and Enzo ran into Hollis with one of the most devastating tackles he's ever delivered. After seeing off Hollis with a Rocket Launcher, the two finally took to the microphone to deliver an impassionate decree: they were walking out of London with the NXT Tag Team Championships. Big Cass injected so much energy into his delivery that his hands and face were literally shaking. It was pretty great. The smartarse in me can't help but think that this might be the precursor to a heel turn. After all, Enzo talked a lot about family in his share of the promo, and that usually foreshadows a betrayal. Perhaps Cass thinks that Enzo allowed him to have his leg injured by Dawson & Wilder and is waiting to take his revenge? Or maybe I'm just overthinking what's otherwise a fairly standard revenge angle. Either way, it's great to see Enzo and Cass finally ascend to their rightful place atop the tag division after plugging away in the company for so long, and their performance last night made their TakeOver match a true must-see.
