Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's return to action brought appearances from four AEW wrestlers on Sunday (1 August), as Orange Cassidy, Evil Uno, JD Drake, and Malakai Black all showed up at Mystery Vortex 7.

Mystery Vortex lives up to its name. The card for these events isn't announced beforehand, opening the door to all kinds of surprises. Last night's show was particularly interesting, given how drastically the indie wrestling landscape has changed since PWG last held an event (December 2019), with AEW providing the headline-making names.

Drake was the first AEW wrestler to show up, wrestling ROH's Brody King in the second match of the night. Later, Cassidy defeated Uno in the pre-main event, before Malakai Black arrived after Bandido had defended his PWG World Championship against IMPACT's Black Taurus in the main, saving Bandido and King from a three-on-two beatdown by Demonic Flamita, Taurus, and the returning Super Dragon.

Indie standout Lee Moriarty also debuted at Mystery Vortex 7, falling to ROH technician Jonathan Gresham.

PWG's last show, The Makings Of A Varsity Athlete, took place on 20 December 2019. The promotion opted against running shows at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
