You knew Drew McIntyre was coming for the WWE Championship, even as he is heading out the door to SmackDown.

McIntyre spent the last couple of months unable to challenge for the title after losing a last chance match against Bobby Lashley, leaving him to wait until someone else vanquished the All Mighty One. That moment came last month in the form of Big E, so naturally, McIntyre waited until Lashley was in the rearview mirror before making his intentions known.

McIntyre told Big E that he deserved to be champion and had earned his respect, but now that he could actually compete for the title again, he was challenging E. That question was left hanging because the Dirty Dawgs interrupted, but let’s give credit to WWE for not going the cheap route of Drew taking a swipe at E (he even played with the Money in the Bank cash-in as a gag, then said that Lashley deserved it) to lay the challenge down.

The tag team match went off relatively without a hitch, save for Drew tagging himself in to finish, but that was somewhat laughed off as just good-natured one-upmanship.

Let’s see how this plays out, but a win for Big E would only help solidify his run as WWE Champion.
