4 Ups & 2 Downs For AEW Collision (Jan 27 - Results & Review)

1. Not Quite Firing

Some people may have appreciated this match more than others will, yet Orange Cassidy vs. Komander just felt a little, well, off.

Cassidy is great, Komander is fun in the right situation. For whatever reason, though, these two just didn't mesh as well as was hoped for. The end result was a somewhat clunky bout which at times merely went from one spot to another spot, rather than having any real fluidity or build to what we were seeing. Of course, the bulk of those spots did look good in isolation, but there needed to be more of an actual story here rather than a feel of simply going through sequences for the sake of sequences.

Whether it was a styles clash or just an off night for those involved, Cassidy vs. Komander never felt truly engaging. With Komander having earned a shot at OC's International Championship on Rampage, the wider story here was about Roderick Strong vs. Orange Cassidy at Revolution, and so this Collision contest had a sense of filler to it.

The finish of the match also felt a little flat, with Komander diving - admittedly impressively so - out on to Matt Taven and Mike Bennett, despite the Undisputed Kingdom duo not particularly doing all that much in terms of interference. Upon returning to the ring, Komander was immediately hit with the Orange Punch for the 1-2-3, and that was that.
