4 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE NXT Stand & Deliver 2025 (Results & Review)
1. A Triple Threat That WORKED
One valid criticism leveled at WWE for this weekend’s events has been the overreliance on multi-wrestler matches rather than booking the best singles match possible.
However, the NXT Championship match between Oba Femi, Je’von Evans, and Trick Williams was a rare instance where adding another wrestler to the mix actually enhanced the product. Femi/Williams likely would have been more plodding with holes in the offense, while Evans paired with either man could have exposed his inexperience. But all three together produced an action-filled match that provided numerous false finishes and hope spots that had fans biting on a title change. Evans’ energy, Oba’s power, and Trick’s presence made this a better match than it initially looked on paper.
Femi threw both men around, looking like the monster champion he is, while Je’von continued to fight from underneath in a desperate attempt to prove the doubters – including his opponents – wrong. Williams held his own and turned in one of his better performances, as the holes in his game were hidden by the constant movement.
All three men deserve credit for avoiding falling into the trap of most triple threats, with one man on the outside while the other two battle in the ring, and then they simply replace one and carry on. There were numerous three-person spots and sequences throughout the match, making it feel like a fight between all of them rather than a disjointed series of sequences between two wrestlers.
Honestly, they could have pulled the trigger on Evans here and the fans would have loved it, but he acquitted himself extremely well and showed that he has an extremely bright future. Hats off to all three here.
