4 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 20)
Ups...
4. Rey Mysterio And Jey Uso Dazzle
SmackDown had exactly zero good matches several weeks ago. The good news? WWE have been making up for that ever since. Bouts like The Street Profits vs. Alpha Academy and The Mysterios vs. Dirty Dawgs were worth your time last week, and the blue brand had some fun follow up on Friday.
The show's opener was a banger.
Rey Mysterio vs. Jey Uso was a great little match that showed what's possible when WWE lets top talents do their thing. Better yet, the story-filled finish (which saw Dominik trying to help Rey before being caught and ejected by the referee) distracted Mysterio and paved the way for an Uso win.
This echoed tactics both squads have used over the past few weeks, and it also furthered the idea that Dom needs to start listening to daddy instead of playing WWE superstar. Most wrestling fans will get something out of this match even if they're not keen on distraction-based finishes.
