4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Crown Jewel 2024 (Results & Review)

UPS…

4. A Questionable Result, But…

Heading into their match, conventional wisdom said that Bronson Reed defeating Seth Rollins would be the right call here to keep Reed hot as a heel monster and to set the stage for Rollins to get his revenge in a big, feud-ending match down the line.

What followed was a good-but-not-great match that featured a shortcut right of the gate with a brawl on the ramp before the bell even rang, and flash finishers that threatened to end the match just seconds after it started. The match then settled into a typical routine big-man-versus-little-man bout, with Reed absorbing Rollins’ attacks and trying to put Seth away with a powerbomb, Death Valley Driver and superplex in rapid succession.

Rollins got the win by stomping Reed’s head on the ring steps, then on the mat, and then again with a diving stomp from the top to finally put the big man down… and then Bronson popped back up a minute later seething at Rollins and mouthing that he wanted more.

Reed losing here was a bit surprising, but seeing how it took the proverbial kitchen sink to put him down – and then it only kept him down for the three count – Bronson still looked strong and like he hadn’t really been defeated, just knocked down long enough to qualify as a loss.

While this wasn’t great, it worked overall and left the door legitimately open to a rematch to resolve this rivalry.
