4 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (March 21)

3. Imitation Is The Sincerest Form Of Flattery

Let’s just take our hats off for Kevin Owens’ masterful job imitating Stone Cold Steve Austin, aping his entire routine to near-perfection Monday night.

KO opened Raw decked out like Austin – complete with skull cap to appear bald – and cut a promo as Stone Cold, using all the usual catchphrases while cutting “himself” down. Owens even faked out the crowd by having Austin’s music play again and feigning shock that Stone Cold really had shown up.

It was the best you could hope for in a one-sided rivalry where Austin isn’t showing up until WrestleMania, so it’s up to one man to carry the entire story. And Owens is more than up to the task. It doesn’t mean that this is gold – the angle is rife with issues – but we have to give Owen his due for nailing the performance.

And the beer and Stunner angle at the end? That was a great little touch.
