4 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE Raw (Dec 28)

Ups...

4. You Know What That Means

The wrestling world was shocked and saddened by the untimely death of Jon Huber – aka Brodie Lee, aka Luke Harper – last week. It raised questions of how WWE would mark his passing since he was wrestling for the competition (and also taking swipes at Vince McMahon with his Mr. Brodie Lee persona).

The answer was evident from the get-go. Raw opened with an “In Memory Of…” card for Huber, and when Raw came up in the ThunderDome, announcer Tom Phillips started with, “It’s Monday, and you know what that means.” If you followed Brodie on Twitter, you’d know that he gave the same incantation every day of the week, an almost mantra-like routine.

Then, Drew McIntyre came out for a promo, and he delivered the same line, then added, “Yeah, yeah, yeah,” another callout to the former Luke Harper, who used to yell that during his WWE matches. Later in the night, Alexa Bliss dropped a “Yeah, yeah, yeah” in her promo, and Xavier Woods hit a discus clothesline ala Harper, complete with the setup.

It was a simple, easy tribute to pay to a man gone way too soon.
