1. The Main Event And Post Match Attack Set Up Six Man Tag At Fastlane
The main event of Smackdown was a match between Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler. They're two of the best in-ring performers in WWE, so any time they go at it the match is exceptional. They've had longer match than this one, which only went about ten minutes. There were several people at ringside, so Ziggler was distracted by Kane at one point when the big man tried to help Ziggler. Rollins capitalized with his Powerbomb that sent Ziggler into the turnbuckle and then he connected on a Curb Stomp for the win. A Ziggler win would have been nice, but they were trying to make him look sympathetic. When the match was over, the five men from The Authority (Rollins, Kane, Big Show, Mercury & Noble) were able to overpower the babyface trio of Ziggler, Ryback and Rowan. We saw a double chokeslam on Rowan followed by a Curb Stomp. Ryback tried to take down the heels, but he fell victim to a Big Show KO Punch followed by a Curb Stomp by Rollins. Ziggler had already been taken out, so the three faces were unsuccessful. The reason they did this segment was because WWE is doing a six man tag at Fastlane with Ziggler, Rowan and Ryback facing Ziggler, Show and Kane. They announced it after Smackdown aired. That's what the story was building to, so it's no surprise that they are rolling with it. It was a great segment for setting up that match on Sunday. The problem is that something like this would have been better earlier in the show. It was only done to set up a midcard match rather than a main event at Fastlane. Smackdown was weak this week. WWE needs to do better than this to make it more of a must-see weekly television show.
