5 Best Opponents For Kurt Angle's WrestleMania 35 Retirement Match

4. Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre's recent presentation hasn't flattered him.

Needlessly fed to the 50/50 booking machine after splitting from Dolph Ziggler, his time spent rubbing shoulders with Raw dorks Bobby Lashley and Baron Corbin has only brought 'The Scottish Psychopath' down to their bland level. He remains an excellent prospect, and should find himself promoted to the main event scene before long, but the past few months have stalled what looked like an incredible main roster rise.

WWE have already had Angle pass his torch to McIntyre once before. This went down on the 5 November 2018 episode of Raw, and while far from a technical classic, it told an effective story, with tired, old Kurt unable to compete with this monstrous new foe. Thus provides the basis of their WrestleMania 35 programme.

In McIntyre's mind, his last bout with Angle should have been Kurt's last, and this "farewell match" is an affront to what he did in November. This gives the writers a suitably hateful platform to build from. 'Mania would then provide the battleground, and while 'The Olympic Hero' would walk in with renewed hope, the outcome should be the same.
