4. Roman Reigns Isn't Ready To Be "The Man"

Roman Reigns looks good with the championships near him. However, becoming "The Man" in the wrestling business doesn't work the way a lot of people think it does. It doesn't just happen because of a look, or a fun move-set. It takes two parts to become a whole when it comes to be "the best there is" in wrestling. First, management and the booking focus have to be behind a talent. If a guy isn't treated like the champion, he won't become the champion, or he won't stay champion for long. This is hard enough to get, but the second part of becoming "The Man" is the trust and admiration of the fans. Becoming "The Man" in wrestling is obviously the biggest thing that can happen to a talent, but the biggest stars are made when both parts make the whole. That is how wrestlers become legends. Does Roman Reigns come off like he is ready for that level? Roman Reigns is a star. He is the future, no one denies that. But is he ready to be given the ball and told to run with it because he and management can push him forever, but if the fans aren't ready for him to ascend, they will reject him. He has the look, a fun move-set, he's intense, but does he give off the impression that he is so beloved by the audience that they'll follow him through anything? Management probably feels that way, the fans like him a lot, but love is a strong word. The fans don't seem ready for Reigns to be on that level. We live in an era where that doesn't mean as much as it used to. John Cena is the key example of this idea. Reigns is earning his way, but he has less than five years of wrestling. Fans are just starting to get behind him. Too much, too quickly may not be the best way to build the Roman Empire because what if the fans get bored of him? Are we looking at another decade of ignoring half the audience? That wouldn't be an issue with Bryan. We know the fans are behind him.
